As I have done for you - using yourself as an example

I, your Lord and Master,
now become your servant.
I who made the moon and stars,
will kneel to wash your feet.
This is my commandment
to love as I have loved you.
Kneel to wash each other’s feet
as I have done for you
.

I applaud Dan Schutte for the appropriateness of the words and the beautiful music accompaniment which had touched the hearts of many at the Holy Thursday Mass.

Going through every word in the song “As I have done for you” and watching the re-enactment of Jesus washing the feet of his disciples by our priests on Holy Thursday Mass is a valuable lesson and reminder of the love and humility of our Lord and Saviour.

Yet, another difficult lesson awaits me on Good Friday. Only You, Jesus, who is sinless, can sacrifice yourself for our sins. Only You, Lord, can surrender Yourself totally and obey the Father to the point of death.

Lord, I realized how small I am as compared to You. I adore and give You thanks for all that You have done for me.

You were born to be loved

And you are receiving that love

through your life

The love from God that started

since the beginning of your birth

That becomes connected with us

meeting each other
